One of the main reasons I made my first venture down to London was to visit my younger cousin.
My cousin Serena recently moved to London and has been hit with so many opportunities since her big city move. One which included being a Top Model finalist, in the commercial section of Top Model 2018.
This event can even allow the models to then have their careers launched through taking part. Furthermore proceeds which are fundraised for this event are donated to Children's Cancer UK. Becoming a finalist doesn't seem easy, so I'm super proud of Serena who put all the hard work into the shows behind the scenes; with all her commitment into her rehearsals and more.
The weekend of shows were held at The Hilton London Metropole. This included a Friday night show which was a showcase of natural beauty and commercial models.
The Saturday was the editorial, over 25’s and males. This was then followed by a night time snow. Each night ended with a VIP after party. I loved seeing each of the small fashion designers clothing pieces being strut up and down the runway. Also witnessing how each model expressed themselves during their walk of outfit of choice and how they styled and accessorized it themselves.
I do have to say - when people tell you London is expensive, I didn’t really fully experience this until the first night at the Top Model event. With 2 vodka and lemonades costing a staggering £16. I mean you can buy a litre of Smirnoff for the exact same price.. so there you go, you can see who’s laughing in that situation.
Finding outfits for this event was absolute mayhem. I placed about 4 different orders and I must have ordered about 30 completely different outfits until I found the perfect ones. I knew I was picky but I didn’t realise how picky - it is also rather hard to get a high-end looking stylish dress for such an affordable price, considering you don’t know if you’re ever going to get to wear it again.
For the first event on the Friday night, and the main event for us. I wore this gorgeous pink/mauve Maya midi dress. A midi dress for such a premier occasion can instantly add a factor of sophistication.
The top half of the dress was made extremely classy with an off shoulder design, with a flood of silver sequin individually sewn on. This layer of material was made loose enough so assure your arms weren't restricted, as I've noticed on some layered off the shoulder designs this can be an issue.
The skirt material is covered with a lovely crisp netting, which adds a pleated effect and also gives the dress some volume about it, yet not taking the attention away from the sparkly sequins.
My accessorizes for the night were kept super plain and simple, as I didn't want to out go the main attraction of the dress.
I wore a basic pair of silver matte chunky heels, styled alongside a silver envelope bag. I went with a chunky heel since I was going to be out all night and I thought this was a comfier choice, but me and heels genuinely just do not go. It’s like my feet can’t take any pain and literally refuse all heeled type shoes - they were in pieces after this night.
This bag was from ASOS which has a detachable strap - worn or clutched it's your choice. Although I do love a clutch bag - to have the decision of if you want to wear the strap or not, makes the bag much more versatile.
I accompanied these accessorizes with my silver Pandora rings and a classic pair of silver hooped earrings.

For the Saturday through the day event we arrived fashionably late I guess you could say..

I huffed and hayed for weeks, if not months you could say about what kind of daytime outfit I wanted to style. After many dress rehearsals of all sorts, I finally came across this ruffle culotte jumpsuit. This jumpsuit was super comfy and an ideal lightweight material for an all day outfit, also a complete bargain - Jumpsuit and clutch bag all for £25.
The neckline and back of the jumpsuit is made from a thin sheer like material which then introduces the layering of ruffles. The gathering of the flounces adds such a fascinating feature to the jumpsuit, these ruffles being only situated on the front and along the arms of the garment.
Surprisingly this outfit was just the right fitting for me as I do usually struggle to find jumpsuits to fit me perfectly. 9/10 my legs are too short or the leg of the jumpsuit is far too baggy, so I was really impressed with the fitting.
A perk to this fold over clutch has to be the size, you could pretty much fit in your whole collection of make up, your phone and purse (Or a hipflask after a sneak peak of the prices the night before.) It's made of a gorgeous soft velvet, with a detailed embroidery design of flowers. It is such an amazingly detailed piece which you don't see often especially at such an affordable price and from a high street brand. The pink in the flowers are also drawn out agaisnt my jumpsuit.
Considering how vibrantly in pink I was dressed for through the day, I decided to stick with my silver block heels again to balance out the outfit. Even though yes my feet were dead from the previous night, fold up pumps are a saint.
