Mia is our gorgeous cockapoo puppy, who brings love and happiness to my family. (Cringe I know) So lively and playful! When I first found out the news that my mum was searching for cockapoo breeders I was filled with joy. If my cats could speak they would tell you differently. Talk and mentions over the years and now it was finally happening.
She was such a little madam the first 4/5 weeks we had her. Anything she could get her teeth on were officially claimed by her. Things you wouldn't even imagine, you would have to store things up high so it was unreachable. Our TV remote was one of her favourites, even some buttons were missing after a few weeks.
Shoes and big boots size 10 / 11 which were bigger and heavier than her, she was able to drag around the house.
The name choosing
What a challenge this was, trying to get every family member to agree on at least one name. Personally I hate common and standard names and wanted something quite unique and different, yet sweet. The decision maker came down to everyone writing 3 names down and whatever name had the most votes was the decider. (Although secretly it was me that chose her name, as I did suggest it to everyone before hand.)

You never really realise how much work puppies can actually be until wanting a puppy becomes reality. The sleepless nights. The house training. The puppy training.
Sleepless nights

These 3 photos actually look like 3 different dogs, and a super scruffy dog in the first one, I know.
Cockapoos are known to get really matted hair due to the long curls and waves. We got into a good routine of grooming to avoid this, and she was in the best condition for her first haircut.
Mia is now 7/8 months old and this has became an ongoing struggle. Due to her 'adult coat' beginning to grow in. Adult coats are slightly different as it grows longer than a puppy coat, and is prone to major matting if this is not brushed out regularly.
Yes this is happening to Mia - super stubborn doggy will not sit still, to let you brush certain areas causing this matting.
As soon as you take her comb out she'll run.
I don't think its even possible for Mia to walk by people or dogs on the street without speaking to them. She is one of the most excitable and friendliest puppy I know.
Cockapoos are known to be really people-orientated dogs that absolutely adore company. Legit Mia in a nutshell. You cant even leave her to go upstairs for 5 minutes, without her whining to get you back. In other words.. she is the neediest dog I know.
1. They aren't known for shedding hair - which is perfect if you're allergic to dogs.
2. They're the perfect size if you're not keen on huge dogs, or tiny little dogs you cant get a good walk with.
3. They LOVE cuddles.

The ongoing debate whether to get the poor wee puppy spayed. If it was my decision I would have loved to just leave her, so that one day she could have had puppies of her own!!
But in reality - time, money, room and patience is needed to breed.
After her operation she just wasn't herself at all. A mix between tiredness and being a little bit 'doped up' still. Having to keep an eye on her pretty much every hour of the day became the new top duty in our household. Making sure she didn't jump up on anything or lick and bite her stitches.
Within 2 weeks Mia recovered and was back to her lively self, as if nothing had even happened! Thank goodness.
I probably have 101 stories I could write about Mia as she never fails to amuse you. We did enter one of her hilarious puppy videos into 'You've Been Framed ' but we've never heard back so keep an eye out hahaha maybe one day yet she'll make It on the TV.

These went on for at least a few months - puppies are exactly like babies when it comes to sleeping habits. Well Mia was anyway.
Non stop howling and endless barking!! Which is quite understanding, since they're used to being all cuddled up for their first few weeks of their lives.
Even now still she can be bad, especially with our busy household. Everyone getting up at different times in the morning disturbing her each time.
Over Christmas and New Year she was completely spoilt. Having everyone home for 2 weeks and always having someone with her at all times. Going from all that attention 24-7 to now a few hours alone in the afternoon, let’s just say it has not sunk in well.

Yes. The endless pees and poos. Telling them off when they don’t know any better, the frustration because they don’t know any better. But their wee confused puppy dog eyes!! How can you resist not forgiving them.
Within about a month Mia was potty trained - well just as you think they’ve mastered it, then well...
After a while I used to think she was never going to grasp it. Once they've had all their jabs, and are able to go on walks it does make it a whole lot easier.

5 Tricks / Phrases Mia Knows..
1. Sit - I think every dog knows this one..
2. Paw - and this one maybe?
3. Lie down - Also this.. possibly
4. Rollover - this one took a while, and she absolutely hates doing it.
5. 'Who's that' // 'Seek them out' - This one drives her absolutely nuts, but she knows it so well. She runs to look out the window or to the door looking for someone.
6. 'Go get it' - Pretty self explanatory.
7. 'Stay' - You can tell her to sit then to stay, she will stay sitting for as long as you tell her. For example you could walk 10 metres away and she wouldn't follow until you tell her to come. Super clever puppy!!
8. ' Go pee' - Quite a weird one hahaha but genuinely, she knows.
9. ' Carrot' - This is definitely her favourite one, purely due to the fact she knows she's getting a treat & she lovessss carrots.
10. ' Bad ' - She gives you the cutest little puppy dog eyes ever and puts her head down and sighs - bless her. Mia's even started to lie in an area she wouldn't usually, and that's when I know, she knows that she's done wrong.
